"Chris Smith is an Emergency Medicine doctor dividing his time equally between clinical practice and academia. His main research interests concern improving the community response to out-of-hospital cardiac arrest and, in particular, widening access to public-access Automated External Defibrillators. 

He is the chair of the Resuscitation Council UK CARe subcommittee and the co-director of the England and Wales Out-of-Hospital Cardiac Arrest Outcomes (OHCAO) registry at the University of Warwick. He also works with Basic Life Support groups for the European Resuscitation Council (ERC) and the International Liaison Committee on Resuscitation (ILCOR).

Jas has a major interest in cardiac arrest and resuscitation and has had a number of national and international roles. He has been chair of the Resuscitation Council UK and the Advanced Life Support (ALS) Task Force Chair of the International Liaison Committee on Resuscitation. He has recently led and completed the Royal College of Anaesthetists National Audit Project on Perioperative Cardiac Arrest.  He is an editor of the journal Resuscitation and an Honorary Professor at The Warwick Clinical Trials Unit, Warwick Medical School. Jas's interests include the use of data to improve care, and ensuring we have evidence based resuscitation guidelines that improve the outcomes that matter to patients. 

Jas will be speaking about the new 2025 RCUK Adult ALS Guidelines including the importance of early ALS, high quality chest compressions and oxygenation and ventilation during ALS, effective defibrillation strategies, and what not to do during ALS. "

"Dr Lynn Thomas joined St John Ambulance as Medical Director in November 2018. Lynn leads a small team of employees and senior volunteers in the Medical and Clinical Directorate. She sits on the Clinical Committee with the Senior Clinical Volunteers and members of the Trustees Board on behalf of the Chief Operating Officer. 

Prior to joining St John, Lynn served for 27 years as a Medical Officer in the Royal Navy. She has served in both shore establishments in the UK and onboard Royal Navy ships across the world, including operational deployments. She was the first female Officer to be appointed to the rank of Surgeon Captain in the Royal Navy.

"Emmeline Venn is a Clinical Skills and Resuscitation Trainer at New Cross Hospital, with a background of Acute Medicine, Critical Care and a specialist nursing role in intravenous fluid management. She is a member of the Early Careers Forum and is leading on a project that seeks to promote an inclusive and supportive learning environment for neurodivergent candidates on RCUK courses by bridging the gap between policy, practice and lived experience. Victoria joined Resuscitation Council UK (RCUK) as a Clinical Lead in 2023. A registered adult nurse of 20 years, her clinical experience is predominantly within cardiology and resuscitation practice. At RCUK, she leads the organisational and strategic development of the Resuscitation Practitioner Forum (RPF) and clinical leadership of RCUK's cardiac arrest survivor care. "Dr Vix Monnelly is a full-time Consultant Neonatologist based in Edinburgh, with specialist expertise in the care of newborns requiring surgery and in newborn resuscitation. With over a decade of dedicated service to the Resuscitation Council UK (RCUK), Dr Monnelly has played a pivotal role on the Newborn Subcommittee, currently leading the design of an NLS half day recertification course. Dr Monnelly is also an elected member on the RCUK Executive Committee. Passionate about fostering the next generation of resuscitation leaders, she co-founded the Early Career Forum (ECF)—a dynamic initiative designed to harness the energy, vision, and multidisciplinary expertise of early-career professionals united by a shared commitment to resuscitation excellence. 

Dr Monnelly is a co-author of the forthcoming 2025 European Newborn Life Support (NLS) Guidelines and serves as a member of the International Liaison Committee on Resuscitation (ILCOR) Newborn Life Support Task Force. "Helen Pocock is interim Head of Research Operations with South Central Ambulance Service. Her PhD explored a feasibility RCT of defibrillation energy, combining her frontline in-sight with academic rigour. Helen is actively involved in shaping resuscitation guidelines as a member of the ILCOR ALS Task Force and the 2025 ERC and RCUK ALS & Special Circumstances writing groups. She chairs the Immediate Life Support Committee and led the development of e-ILS as well as e-ALS update. Joyce is also a member of the RCUK ALS Subcommittee, a Fellow of European Resuscitation Council, and is Honorary Secretary and a Scientific Advisory Committee member for International Liaison Committee on Resuscitation (ILCOR). Dr Emily Reynolds is an Intensive Care Consultant at University Hospitals Southampton having completed her training in Bristol, Bath, Sydney and Oxford. She has been an member of the Immediate Life Support Course subcommittee for 12 years and is currently the deputy chair. She has developed additional interests in medical education and patient safety. 

"Isabelle is a Clinical Lead at Resuscitation Council UK. Her background is in clinical education working as a Senior Lecturer, and Lead Nurse for Practice Development before becoming the lead for the resuscitation services at St Georges Hospital, London. Her interest is in the support and development for instructors, and the promotion of excellence in clinical practice. She has most recently been involved in the development of 4e GIC and the ILSi development. She is most proud of the ongoing monthly CPD programme for RCUK instructors. "

"Dr Ben Stretch is an ST7 anaesthetics trainee at the Royal London Hospital with a clinical and academic interest in resuscitation. He is currently a prehospital emergency medicine-hospital doctor with MAGPAS air ambulance and paediatric retrieval fellow with PaNDR based in Cambridge. This job allows Ben to combine his interests in both adult and paediatric resuscitation across a whole range of challenging clinical scenarios. "

Adam is a Paramedic and Senior Clinical Lead at London Ambulance Service. He is particularly interested in out of hospital cardiac arrest and paedicatic resuscitation. Adam is a member of the RCUK Paediatric Subcommittee, Secretary of the Young European Resuscitation Council, and is undertaking PhD research focusing on out-of-hospital cardiac arrest affecting children at the University of Warwick.

"Adam Benson Clarke is a registered nurse with extensive expertise in resuscitation, critical care outreach advanced practice, and healthcare education. He has held clinical roles at the John Radcliffe Hospital in Oxford and University College London Hospital, contributing to the delivery of high-quality patient care to critically ill patients. He has also worked as an Associate Lecturer at Oxford Brookes University. 

In his current role as Deputy Director of Clinical and Service Development at Resuscitation Council UK, Adam leads on clinical guideline development, quality standards, and course design, driving improvements in resuscitation education and clinical practice. "

"Gareth Lumb is the Lead Paediatric Resuscitation Officer in Leeds. He is an EPALS, GIC, and ALS Instructor and Course Directs both EPALS and GIC. Gareth is a member of the EPALS subcommittee and participated in the 2025 guideline review process. He is interested in Clinical Education and has had an engaged role in the innovation of the EPALS programme structure. "

Rupert is a Consultant in Anaesthetics and Intensive Care Medicine at Milton Keynes University Hospital and an Honorary Consultant in Paediatric Critical Care at Oxford University Hospitals. His subspecialty interests include Paediatric Critical Care and Retrieval Medicine, Medical Education, and Point-of-Care Ultrasound. He has been an active member of the EPALS subcommittee since 2023 and regularly instructs on EPALS, ALS, and GIC courses.

"Mark is a Paediatric intensivist and anaesthetist at Royal Hospital for Children in Glasgow and a consultant in Paediatric Critical Care Transport at ScotSTAR.

His interests include the management of critically unwell children anywhere and delivering education to allow the non-specialist to manage seriously and critically unwell patients. This follows the aims of EPALS course.

"Dr Joe Fawke is a Consultant Neonatologist at University Hospitals Leicester NHS Trust and an Honorary Senior Lecturer at the University of Leicester. Joe was one of the originators of the ARNI course, co-editor of the ARNI course manual and Chair of the ARNI working group. He became chair of the NLS subcommittee in 2018. As part of a wider interest in medical education, Joe is a Paediatric Training Programme Director for Health Education East Midlands. His clinical interests include resuscitation, simulation-based training and neonatal neurodevelopmental follow-up. He was a NICE Guideline Committee member for the Developmental Follow up of Children and Infants born Preterm, and he is Chair of the NICE Neonatal Parenteral Nutrition Guideline Committee. "

Her research focuses on cardiac arrest aftercare for survivors, their families and bystanders who have performed CPR. She is an honorary Research Fellow with the Scottish Ambulance Service and has just been awarded a three-year post-doctoral fellowship by the Scottish Government to develop cardiac arrest aftercare services in Scotland. "

"Based at the Essex Cardiothoracic Centre and King's College Hospital (UK), Dr. Marco Mion is a Clinical Psychologist and an Honorary Clinical Lecturer at Anglia Ruskin University. His research focuses on psychological, cognitive, and quality of life outcomes after out-of-hospital cardiac arrest, and the development of patient-centred care pathways. Dr. Marco coordinated the UK neuropsychology arm of the TTM2 trial and currently leads a multi-site psychoeducational feasibility interventional study embedded within the STEPCARE trial (V-CARE). "

"As the Clinical Out-of-Hospital Cardiac Arrest Programme manager for Wales, Julie is shaping national strategy and leading eorts to improve survival. Working across healthcare systems and community networks, Julie brings strategic oversight, collaborative leadership, and contributes to a greater understanding of this evolving landscape. Julie will be speaking on how our understanding of the impact of CPR on survivors, family members and bystanders has evolved. "

"Jerry Nolan is a consultant in anaesthesia and intensive care medicine at the Royal United Hospital, Bath, Professor of Resuscitation Medicine at the University of Warwick and the University of Bristol. He is past Chair of the Resuscitation Council UK, the European Resuscitation Council (ERC) and the International Liaison Committee on Resuscitation (ILCOR). Jerry is Editor-in-Chief of the journal Resuscitation and Chair of the NCAA Steering Committee. He will present on the topics of the epidemiology of in-hospital cardiac arrest (IHCA) and the latest research in IHCA. "

David leads ICNARC's programme of national clinical audits including the National Cardiac Arrest Audit (NCAA) and has over 20 years experience in audit and research in critical care. He will be presenting results of a research study using data from NCAA to explore whether hospitals that persist with resuscitation attempts for longer have better patient outcomes.

Tommaso joined ICNARC two years ago and works across multiple projects, including the National Cardiac Arrest Audit (NCAA). He will present on long-term trends using over a decade of NCAA data, exploring patterns and their implications.

Siobhan is an experienced Resuscitation Officer in the Belfast Trust and Chair of NIRO. She has a background in cardiology and clinical training with over 24 years experience. She delivers ILS, ALS and EPALS across clinical teams and is passionate about improving patient outcomes through evidenced based training. Actively involved in clinical governance, audit and staff development, Siobhan plans to implement the OH-ALS in 2026 aiming to strengthen resuscitation capabilities across prehospital/community care environments.

"Sarah-Jayne Kirkpatrick is the Chair of the Scottish Resuscitation Group (SRG) and has been for the last year. She has been a resuscitation practitioner/officer for 10 years and lead of service for her health board for 5 years. She is an ALS/EPALS/GIC & APLS instructor and one of the RCUK regional reps for Scotland.  

She has a passion for resuscitation education and improving outcomes for our patients as well as the ensuring the wellbeing for staff and bystanders involved in resuscitation.

Jane Carnall is the Resuscitation & Simulation Service Lead at Manchester University NHS Foundation Trust in the North West of England & an NCAA Steering Group Member. She began her career training as an ODA (now ODP) in Liverpool and has since worked in both NHS & private sector organisations across the UK during her 35 year career.  From the earliest days she has been actively involved in education in both perioperative practice & resuscitation including being an RCUK Instructor & Course Director. She also has a background in media production (film, video & desktop publication) gained during a career break and uses that to aid innovation in clinical education. 

With a clinical background in both renal and critical care nursing, Georgina Bolton now works across all national clinical audits at ICNARC, including the National Cardiac Arrest Audit (NCAA). She will be presenting the NCAA Update session, in which she'll be summarising NCAA's progress and highlighting some of the exciting developments they've seen in recent years.

Andrew Fleming has worked at ICNARC for 20 years, and on the National Cardiac Arrest Audit (NCAA) since its inception in 2009. He will be presenting on NCAA Dataset 2.0, which participating hospitals started collecting from April 2025. In particular, he will be looking at how the wealth of new data can be used in NCAA benchmarked reporting.

After completing his PhD in Health Data Science, Dragos joined ICNARC to focus on developing interactive statistical reports for clinical audits. He will share our plans for developing NCAA dashboards and provide a first peak at the redesigned NCAA public reports, with which they aim to provide greater depth and more accessible insights than the current static formats support.

Dr Carmel Oliver is a trainee anaesthetist in the South-West currently working at the Royal United Hospital in Bath. She is inaugural chair of the Early Careers Forum. Her professional interests include anaesthesia, advanced care planning and post-resuscitation care.

"Adam Boulton is an anaesthetics and intensive care medicine registrar in the West Midlands. He is currently an NIHR Doctoral Research Fellow and undertaking a PhD examining the prehospital critical care response to cardiac arrest. This research is examining health inequalities in resuscitation. Adam is an associate member of the ILCOR Education, Implementation, and Teams task force. He is the current vice chair of RCUK’s Early Careers Forum."

"Connor Gilronan has 10 years experience in event and ambulance health care and is a member of the RCUK Early Careers Forum. He is currently in his Newly Qualified Paramedic preceptorship, and is completing an NIHR INSIGHT Studentship at the University of Exeter. He is passionate about research aimed at improving community resuscitation outcomes, particularly projects aimed at developing the confidence of bystanders and non-registered responders in resuscitation. His interests include neonatology, human factors, and the effectiveness of high-performing teams. He also observes on the Neonatal Life Support Subcommittee, developing this years’ UK neonatal resuscitation guidelines and their distillation into practice. "

She is a member of the Early Careers Forum and is leading on a project that seeks to promote an inclusive and supportive learning environment for neurodivergent candidates on RCUK courses by bridging the gap between policy, practice and lived experience.
