Adam Boulton is an anaesthetics and intensive care medicine registrar in the West Midlands. He is currently an NIHR Doctoral Research Fellow and undertaking a PhD examining the prehospital critical care response to cardiac arrest. This research is examining health inequalities in resuscitation. Adam is an associate member of the ILCOR Education, Implementation, and Teams task force. He is the current vice chair of RCUK’s Early Careers Forum.

Adam is a Paramedic and Senior Clinical Lead at London Ambulance Service. He is particularly interested in out of hospital cardiac arrest and paedicatic resuscitation. Adam is a member of the RCUK Paediatric Subcommittee, Secretary of the Young European Resuscitation Council, and is undertaking PhD research focusing on out-of-hospital cardiac arrest affecting children at the University of Warwick.

Prof Andy Lockey is a Consultant in Emergency Medicine at Calderdale & Huddersfield NHS Trust and a Visiting Professor in Emergency Medicine at the University of Huddersfield. He is also an Associate Dean for Health Education England (covering Yorkshire and the Humber). He first became involved with Resuscitation Council UK in 1993, when he became an ALS Instructor and he was awarded an MBE in the King’s inaugural New Year’s Honours list in 2023 for services to resuscitation training.

Catriona’s interests include learning methods to enhance psychomotor skills in practice. She has been educator to the ILS subcommittee for many guideline changes and ILS course design developments. She continues to get an adrenaline rush seeing colleagues put learning into practice. Her presentation represents the key changes to the ILS instructor course as a result of significant educational developments in the 4th ed Generic Instructor Course.

Prof Charles Deakin is Divisional Medical Director for South Central Ambulance Service and a consultant in cardiac anaesthesia and cardiac intensive care at University Hospital Southampton. He is also Honorary Professor of Resuscitation and Prehospital Emergency Medicine at Southampton University where his main academic interests are cardiac arrest, resuscitation and defibrillation. Charles is a lead author for paramedic (JRCALC), RCUK and European ALS resuscitation guidelines and is a member of the ILCOR advanced life support working group.

Clinical Lecturer in Emergency Medicine at University of Warwick; Chair of CARe subcommittee

Chris Smith is an Emergency Medicine doctor dividing his time equally between clinical practice and academia. His main research interests concern improving the community response to out-of-hospital cardiac arrest and, in particular, widening access to public-access Automated External Defibrillators.

He is the chair of the Resuscitation Council UK CARe subcommittee and the co-director of the England and Wales Out-of-Hospital Cardiac Arrest Outcomes (OHCAO) registry at the University of Warwick. He also works with Basic Life Support groups for the European Resuscitation Council (ERC) and the International Liaison Committee on Resuscitation (ILCOR).

He will be talking about the Basic Life Support and Epidemiology chapters of the 2025 Resuscitation Council UK guidelines.

Dr Ben Stretch is an ST7 anaesthetics trainee at the Royal London Hospital with a clinical and academic interest in resuscitation. He is currently a prehospital emergency medicine-hospital doctor with MAGPAS air ambulance and paediatric retrieval fellow with PaNDR based in Cambridge. This job allows Ben to combine his interests in both adult and paediatric resuscitation across a whole range of challenging clinical scenarios.

Jasmeet Soar is a consultant in anaesthetics and intensive care medicine at Southmead Hospital, North Bristol NHS Trust. Jas has a major interest in cardiac arrest and resuscitation and has had a number of national and international roles. He has been chair of the Resuscitation Council UK and the Advanced Life Support (ALS) Task Force Chair of the International Liaison Committee on Resuscitation. He has recently led and completed the Royal College of Anaesthetists National Audit Project on Perioperative Cardiac Arrest.  He is an editor of the journal Resuscitation and an Honorary Professor at The Warwick Clinical Trials Unit, Warwick Medical School. Jas's interests include the use of data to improve care, and ensuring we have evidence based resuscitation guidelines that improve the outcomes that matter to patients.

Jessica Rogers is an Emergency Medicine resident in London with specialist interests in trauma and first aid. She currently sits on the ILCOR First Aid task force and MDEI committee and was an author for ERC Guidelines 2025 First Aid and Basic Life Support. She was one of the founders of the Young ERC and in her spare time undertakes track side medical work in motorsport, runs her family businesses and chases after her very active toddler.

Dr Joe Fawke is a Consultant Neonatologist at University Hospitals Leicester NHS Trust and an Honorary Senior Lecturer at the University of Leicester. Joe was one of the originators of the ARNI course, co-editor of the ARNI course manual and Chair of the ARNI working group. He became chair of the NLS subcommittee in 2018. As part of a wider interest in medical education, Joe is a Paediatric Training Programme Director for Health Education East Midlands. His clinical interests include resuscitation, simulation-based training and neonatal neurodevelopmental follow-up. He was a NICE Guideline Committee member for the Developmental Follow up of Children and Infants born Preterm, and he is Chair of the NICE Neonatal Parenteral Nutrition Guideline Committee.

John Madar is a consultant neonatologist at University Hospitals Plymouth and a lonstanding member of the RCUK NLS and ARNI subcommittees and an Honorary Member of the Resuscitation Council UK. He is also active in European Resuscitation Council as the Education Chair, of the ERC NLS Science & Education Committee.

He is a member of the ILCOR neonatal resuscitation task force and represents newborn care with both Royal College of Paediatric and Child Health and Joint.

Kevin Mackie has been the lead educator for RCUK since 2013. He has a nursing background, but has mainly focused on academia and education. He has been closely involved in the development and delivery of several undergraduate and postgraduate programmes in medicine and nursing. In his role as lead educator, he provides educational advice to all of the RCUK clinical/course subcommittees and chairs the RCUK education subcommittee.  

Kevin also co-leads the UK Generic Instructor Course with Kate Denning (from the Advanced Life Support Group) who was co-author with him for the 4th Edition of the Pocket Guide to Teaching for Clinical Instructors (The Blue Book). He is also currently working alongside the ERC lead educator in the development of the ERC GIC.

Nicky McCarthy is a Senior Advanced Neonatal Nurse Practitioner with over 20 years’ experience at University Hospitals Sussex NHS Trust. She has authored a textbook chapter and published research on NLS outcomes and professional influences on pass/IP rates. Her research interests focus on team dynamics, and she is recognised for her extensive experience in human factors, debriefing, and civility training. As an RCUK course director and ERC faculty member, she champions nursing leadership, education, and multidisciplinary collaboration.

Isabelle is a Clinical Lead at Resuscitation Council UK. Her background is in clinical education working as a Senior Lecturer, and Lead Nurse for Practice Development before becoming the lead for the resuscitation services at St Georges Hospital, London. Her interest is in the support and development for instructors, and the promotion of excellence in clinical practice. She has most recently been involved in the development of 4e GIC and the ILSi development. She is most proud of the ongoing monthly CPD programme for RCUK instructors.

Naomi Reeves is Clinical Lead at Resuscitation Council UK (RCUK) and a registered adult nurse with over 25 years’ experience in emergency care and resuscitation practice in the Midlands. At RCUK, she leads the development of the Out-of-Hospital Advanced Life Support (ALS) course, now in its pilot phase, and also oversees the European Paediatric Life Support (EPALS) course and the Community and Ambulance Response (CARe) Subcommittee.

National Clinical Audit Programme Manager at Intensive Care National Audit & Research Centre (ICNARC).

Andrew Fleming has worked at ICNARC for 20 years, and on the National Cardiac Arrest Audit (NCAA) since its inception in 2009. He will be presenting on NCAA Dataset 2.0, which participating hospitals started collecting from April 2025. In particular, he will be looking at how the wealth of new data can be used in NCAA benchmarked reporting.

Angela Jones, a Senior Nurse with over 25 years in resuscitation services, is based in Cardiff and leads national efforts to improve resuscitation practice in Wales. Angela is widely respected for her leadership, clinical expertise, and commitment to innovation and collaboration. Her mission is to ensure every patient receives the highest standard of resuscitation, making a lasting impact across the nation.

Connor Gilronan has 10 years experience in event and ambulance health care and is a member of the RCUK Early Careers Forum. He is currently in his Newly Qualified Paramedic preceptorship, and is completing an NIHR INSIGHT Studentship at the University of Exeter. He is passionate about research aimed at improving community resuscitation outcomes, particularly projects aimed at developing the confidence of bystanders and non-registered responders in resuscitation.

David leads ICNARC's programme of national clinical audits including the National Cardiac Arrest Audit (NCAA) and has over 20 years experience in audit and research in critical care. He will be presenting results of a research study using data from NCAA to explore whether hospitals that persist with resuscitation attempts for longer have better patient outcomes.

After completing his PhD in Health Data Science, Dragos joined ICNARC to focus on developing interactive statistical reports for clinical audits. He will share our plans for developing NCAA dashboards and provide a first peak at the redesigned NCAA public reports, with which they aim to provide greater depth and more accessible insights than the current static formats support.

Dr Emily Reynolds is an Intensive Care Consultant at University Hospitals Southampton having completed her training in Bristol, Bath, Sydney and Oxford. Gareth Lumb is the Lead Paediatric Resuscitation Officer in Leeds. He is an EPALS, GIC, and ALS Instructor and Course Directs both EPALS and GIC. Gareth is a member of the EPALS subcommittee and participated in the 2025 guideline review process. He is interested in Clinical Education and has had an engaged role in the innovation of the EPALS programme structure.

With a clinical background in both renal and critical care nursing, Georgina Bolton now works across all national clinical audits at ICNARC, including the National Cardiac Arrest Audit (NCAA). She will be presenting the NCAA Update session, in which she'll be summarising NCAA's progress and highlighting some of the exciting developments they've seen in recent years.

Helen Pocock is interim Head of Research Operations with South Central Ambulance Service. Her PhD explored a feasibility RCT of defibrillation energy, combining her frontline in-sight with academic rigour. Helen is actively involved in shaping resuscitation guidelines as a member of the ILCOR ALS Task Force and the 2025 ERC and RCUK ALS & Special Circumstances writing groups. She is passionate about bridging clinical practice and research to improve outcomes in cardiac arrest care.

Resuscitation & Simulation Service Lead at Manchester University NHS Foundation Trust; NCAA Steering Group Member.

Jane Carnall is the Resuscitation & Simulation Service Lead at Manchester University NHS Foundation Trust in the North West of England & an NCAA Steering Group Member. She began her career training as an ODA (now ODP) in Liverpool and has since worked in both NHS & private sector organisations across the UK during her 35 year career.  From the earliest days she has been actively involved in education in both perioperative practice & resuscitation including being an RCUK Instructor & Course Director. She also has a background in media production (film, video & desktop publication) gained during a career break and uses that to aid innovation in clinical education.

Dr Lynn Thomas joined St John Ambulance as Medical Director in November 2018. Lynn leads a small team of employees and senior volunteers in the Medical and Clinical Directorate. She sits on the Clinical Committee with the Senior Clinical Volunteers and members of the Trustees Board on behalf of the Chief Operating Officer.

Prior to joining St John, Lynn served for 27 years as a Medical Officer in the Royal Navy. She has served in both shore establishments in the UK and onboard Royal Navy ships across the world, including operational deployments. She was the first female Officer to be appointed to the rank of Surgeon Captain in the Royal Navy.

Victoria joined Resuscitation Council UK (RCUK) as a Clinical Lead in 2023. A registered adult nurse of 20 years, her clinical experience is predominantly within cardiology and resuscitation practice. At RCUK, she leads the organisational and strategic development of the Resuscitation Practitioner Forum (RPF) and clinical leadership of RCUK's cardiac arrest survivor care. Victoria also oversees both the Advanced Life Support (ALS) and Immediate Life Support (ILS) Subcommittees and has a special interest in equality, equity, diversity, and inclusion.

Dr Vix Monnelly is a full-time Consultant Neonatologist based in Edinburgh, with specialist expertise in the care of newborns requiring surgery and in newborn resuscitation. With over a decade of dedicated service to the Resuscitation Council UK (RCUK), Dr Monnelly has played a pivotal role on the Newborn Subcommittee, currently leading the design of an NLS half day recertification course. Dr Monnelly is also an elected member on the RCUK Executive Committee. Passionate about fostering the next generation of resuscitation leaders, she co-founded the Early Career Forum (ECF)—a dynamic initiative designed to harness the energy, vision, and multidisciplinary expertise of early-career professionals united by a shared commitment to resuscitation excellence.

Dr Monnelly is a co-author of the forthcoming 2025 European Newborn Life Support (NLS) Guidelines and serves as a member of the International Liaison Committee on Resuscitation (ILCOR) Newborn Life Support Task Force. Her work reflects a career-long dedication to advancing neonatal care, improving outcomes for the most vulnerable patients, and inspiring collaboration across the profession.

Lecturer in Physiotherapy at Glasgow Caledonian University.

Dr Vicky Joshi is a Lecturer in Physiotherapy at Glasgow Caledonian University. She has a clinical background in brain injury rehabilitation brain injury. Her research focuses on cardiac arrest aftercare for survivors, their families and bystanders who have performed CPR. She is an honorary Research Fellow with the Scottish Ambulance Service and has just been awarded a three-year post-doctoral fellowship by the Scottish Government to develop cardiac arrest aftercare services in Scotland.

Tommaso joined ICNARC two years ago and works across multiple projects, including the National Cardiac Arrest Audit (NCAA). He will present on long-term trends using over a decade of NCAA data, exploring patterns and their implications.

Siobhan is an experienced Resuscitation Officer in the Belfast Trust and Chair of NIRO. She has a background in cardiology and clinical training with over 24 years experience. She delivers ILS, ALS and EPALS across clinical teams and is passionate about improving patient outcomes through evidenced based training. Actively involved in clinical governance, audit and staff development, Siobhan plans to implement the OH-ALS in 2026 aiming to strengthen resuscitation capabilities across prehospital/community care environments.

Sarah-Jayne Kirkpatrick is the Chair of the Scottish Resuscitation Group (SRG) and has been for the last year. She has been a resuscitation practitioner/officer for 10 years and lead of service for her health board for 5 years. She is an ALS/EPALS/GIC & APLS instructor and one of the RCUK regional reps for Scotland.  

She has a passion for resuscitation education and improving outcomes for our patients as well as the ensuring the wellbeing for staff and bystanders involved in resuscitation.  

She will be part of the RPF panel, representing Scotland. This will be along side Paul Marlow and other representatives from the devolved nations of the UK.

Dr Rob Tinnion is a Consultant Neonatologist working in a regional NICU and with a longstanding interest in Newborn resuscitation and resuscitation training. When opportunity arose to chair a development group to produce a bespoke Out-of Hospital NLS course for RCUK (OHNLS) he was pleased to be able to help. With the G2025 guideline updates and course rollout in progress nationally, OHNLS is now fully integrated into the suite of newborn courses offered by RCUK.

Tom is a nurse and Clinical Lead at RCUK. Whilst his primary responsibility is supporting the ongoing development of the Recommended Summary Plan for Emergency Care and Treatment (ReSPECT) process, he also supports the work of RCUK’s Early Careers Forum and Newborn and Advanced Life Support subcommittees.

His experience includes working as an emergency nurse, resuscitation practitioner and lecturer in higher education. As well as resuscitation, he is interested in end-of-life care, facilitating learning and human factors.

Adam Benson Clarke is a registered nurse with extensive expertise in resuscitation, critical care outreach advanced practice, and healthcare education. He has held clinical roles at the John Radcliffe Hospital in Oxford and University College London Hospital, contributing to the delivery of high-quality patient care to critically ill patients. He has also worked as an Associate Lecturer at Oxford Brookes University.

In his current role as Deputy Director of Clinical and Service Development at Resuscitation Council UK, Adam leads on clinical guideline development, quality standards, and course design, driving improvements in resuscitation education and clinical practice.

Zoë Fritz is a Consultant Physician and Associate Professor of Medical Ethics and Ageing at Cambridge University. Her research is focused on identifying areas of clinical practice that raise ethical questions and applying rigorous empirical and ethical analysis to identify issues and find effective solutions. Her work examining DNACPRs and developing an alternative was fundamental to the development of ReSPECT (she is also proud of coming up with the acronym!). She chairs the ReSPECT Subcommittee.

As an active RCUK instructor and chairing the RCUK Resuscitation Practitioners' Forum, Paul is a Resuscitation Practitioner in West Norfolk, working across all sub specialities of resuscitation.  

The Resuscitation Practitioner Forums of England, Scotland, Wales, and Northern Ireland have harnessed their collective experience to help you implement best practices in successfully rolling out the new guidelines. Jerry Nolan is a consultant in anaesthesia and intensive care medicine at the Royal United Hospital, Bath, Professor of Resuscitation Medicine at the University of Warwick and the University of Bristol. He is past Chair of the Resuscitation Council UK, the European Resuscitation Council (ERC) and the International Liaison Committee on Resuscitation (ILCOR). Jerry is Editor-in-Chief of the journal Resuscitation and Chair of the NCAA Steering Committee. He will present on the topics of the epidemiology of in-hospital cardiac arrest (IHCA) and the latest research in IHCA.

As the Clinical Out-of-Hospital Cardiac Arrest Programme manager for Wales, Julie is shaping national strategy and leading eorts to improve survival. Working across healthcare systems and community networks, Julie brings strategic oversight, collaborative leadership, and contributes to a greater understanding of this evolving landscape. Julie will be speaking on how our understanding of the impact of CPR on survivors, family members and bystanders has evolved.

Keith is an Associate Professor in Emergency and Critical Care, based in the Emergency, Prehospital, Perioperative and Critical Care (EPPiC) research group at Warwick Clinical Trials Unit and a critical care outreach nurse at University Hospitals Birmingham NHS Foundation Trust. His research focuses on the care of the critically ill patient, with a specific focus on cardiac arrest. Keith holds volunteer roles with the International Liaison Committee on Resuscitation, Resuscitation Council UK, and European Resuscitation Council.

Based at the Essex Cardiothoracic Centre and King's College Hospital (UK), Dr. Marco Mion is a Clinical Psychologist and an Honorary Clinical Lecturer at Anglia Ruskin University. His research focuses on psychological, cognitive, and quality of life outcomes after out-of-hospital cardiac arrest, and the development of patient-centred care pathways. Dr. Marco coordinated the UK neuropsychology arm of the TTM2 trial and currently leads a multi-site psychoeducational feasibility interventional study embedded within the STEPCARE trial (V-CARE).

Michael is a paramedic and supported the development of the RCUK Survivors Quality Standard at RCUK. The survivors conference session will focus on the needs of survivors of cardiac arrest and the impact this has on 'co-survivors', family members, friends, bystanders and professional rescuers.  The session will discuss what good care should look like, and what needs to be done to improve the care available to all those involved in cardiac arrest.
